MI-Sen: Upset of the Year?
A reliable source has told me that political handicapper extraordinaire Charlie Cook told a huge audience of over 500 automobile dealer executives yesterday that a Mike Bouchard victory over Democrat Senator Debbie Stabenow this November could be the upset of the year.
We couldn't agree more. Bouchard is an excellent pro-growth candidate whose message is perfect for Michigan. That state's economy has been struggling for the past several years in part because of Stabenow's disastrous votes in the Senate.
How bad is she? She got a big goose egg score in the Club's 2005 rating of Congress. In fact, far left liberals like Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein had better scores than she did. Last year, she voted against tort reform, ANWR, and even a modest deficit reduction bill. In the past, she's also voted against the Bush tax cuts (both of them) and for abominable pork projects like the "Bridge to Nowhere".
You name the pro-growth issue, and you can pretty much count on Stabenow being against it. She's that liberal.
