HBO's Documentary on Barry Goldwater
Did anybody watch HBO's documentary on Barry Goldwater last night?
It was certainly worth watching, but it left much to be desired.
I was disappointed because it didn't explain in any detail why Goldwater held the political views that he had. Revealing the inner workings of this conservative's "conscience" is what would have gained my complete and unwavering attention.
Plus, I couldn't stand hearing Al Franken and Helen Thomas tag him as a liberal by today's standards. Goldwater called himself a conservative, but he was a through-n-through libertarian all his life. They should have deleted those scenes and shown more clips of George Will, who was thoroughly entertaining.
