For Sale: $1000 for a Golf Course
This is a fun story. From the Indianapolis Star:
If you care to spend $1,000 and are skilled or lucky enough to win Bob Placido's closest-to-the-hole contest, your prize is the hole, and the golf course and 125 acres upon which it is built. It's winner take all, you might say, from clubhouse to cash register to 30 golf carts.
After 41 years as a golf professional and 19 years of course ownership, Placido, 63, has decided to retire. Rather than sell Augusta Hills Golf Course in Albion, Ind., 35 miles northwest of Fort Wayne, he has decided to divest himself through a game of skill.
For $1,000, interested parties or their designated representatives -- Tiger Woods or anyone else over 18 -- can take a shot at owning the 18-hole, par-71, 6,231-yard layout, called "a very nice country golf course" by Doug Booth, owner and head pro at nearby Deer Track Golf Club in Auburn.
