Congresswoman Sue Myrick Endorses Patrick McHenry
I found this press release on NCRumors.com:
Shelby, NC - Congresswoman Sue Myrick, who has represented North Carolina’s Ninth District for nearly ten years, has officially endorsed State Representative Patrick McHenry in his race for the Republican nomination in the Tenth District. McHenry faces David Huffman in the August 17th runoff election.
Congresswoman Myrick announced her endorsement on a campaign swing with Representative McHenry through Cleveland, Lincoln and Gaston Counties. All three counties are areas that have been represented by Myrick in the past when they were part of the Ninth District.
“It is my pleasure today to offer my full support to Representative Patrick McHenry in his race for Congress,” Congresswoman Myrick commented during a stop in Lincolnton. “Since I was first elected in 1994, I have seen many eager freshmen Congressmen come to Washington and quickly be overwhelmed. When I look at Patrick McHenry’s record, I see someone who has stood firm for our conservative principles, even when faced with tremendous pressure. His record in the State House is outstanding and I know he will be a strong addition to North Carolina’s Congressional delegation."
Representative McHenry was honored by Myrick’s endorsement, “Sue Myrick is a conservative leader who has never backed down. Her determination has made her an extraordinarily effective member of Congress and I feel privileged to have her support.”
McHenry also announced during his tour with Myrick that he will join the Republican Study Committee (RSC) once elected to Congress. The RSC is a group of over 85 House Republicans organized for the purpose of advancing a conservative social and economic agenda in the U.S. House of Representatives. Congresswoman Myrick currently serves as Chair of the RSC. McHenry would be the fifth RSC member from North Carolina, joining Myrick as well as Congressmen Walter Jones, Robin Hayes and Charles Taylor.
Congresswoman Myrick is in her fifth term and serves on the most powerful committee in the U.S. House, the Committee on Rules.
